Watford should consider making a move for Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia.
Watford boss Marco Silva has made seven signings so far, but he is still looking to add a few more before the window closes.
The attacking department is one of the major areas where he is looking to invest, and earlier this week the Hornets have been linked with a move for Leicester City’s Islam Slimani.
It shows that Watford are serious about landing a striker, despite signing Andre Gray from Burnley. With this in mind, Marco Silva should consider making a move for Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia.
Villa are going through a tough financial situation, and Steve Bruce has admitted that he might have to sell one of his key players this summer to bring in new faces.
Watford should tempt Villa with a lucrative offer to do business, while the Ivorian hitman would hardly want to miss the opportunity of playing in the Premier League.
Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City last summer, and took no time settling in at his new club. He scored 19 goals in the Championship last season for the Villans.
His pace, physical presence and flexibility should make him a perfect fit in Watford’s 4-3-3 system.
In recent years, we have seen that players from lower leagues have gone on to make a big impression in the Premier League – like Dele Alli and Andre Gray – so there’s no reason to believe why Kodjia can’t deliver at this level.
He is currently injured, but is not far off from returning to action. The 27-year-old could take his game to an entirely new height provided he is given an opportunity.
