Aston Villa’s John McGinn has told the Guardian that he could see Liverpool’s players arguing on the pitch during their match at the weekend.

Villa gave Liverpool all sorts of problems on Saturday, even though Jurgen Klopp’s side somehow managed to come out on top.

Villa had taken the lead in the first half when Trezeguet scored from a free-kick and they defended resolutely throughout the match.

Indeed, McGinn claims that he could see the frustrations of the Liverpool players rising during the contest.

The £50 million midfielder (The Scottish Sun) said: “A lot of their players were arguing and you could tell they were uncomfortable in the first half.

“When teams start arguing with each other you normally know you’ve got them. But at the same time you have to respect that they are such a good team they just regroup, get together and go again.”

In the end Liverpool’s players remarkably overcame their differences as they staged a dramatic comeback.

Andrew Robertson scored an equaliser for Liverpool late on, and then Sadio Mane found the back of the net with a header in injury time to turn the game on its head.

It showed why Liverpool are sat at the top of the league right now, as they simply never know when they are beaten.

Liverpool’s win was crucial as it kept their six-point advantage in tact, ahead of their game against Manchester City next weekend.
