Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City are reportedly ready to offer £20m to sign John McGinn from Championship underachievers Aston Villa.

John McGinn has stated that he has his heart set on playing Premier League football with Aston Villa amid links with Leicester City, speaking to the club’s official TV channel.

McGinn moved to Villa Park last summer when the Midland giants beat Celtic to his signature, paying around £3 million to lure the Scotland international away from Hibernian, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

And he has been a huge success in an otherwise disappointing season, producing 10 assists in all competitions while scoring a genuine Goal of the Season contender with a stunning volley against Sheffield Wednesday in September.

According to the Daily Record, however, Brendan Rodgers has renewed his interest in McGinn, having missed out on the 24-year-old when he was Celtic manager. Leicester are reportedly willing to meet his £20 million asking price.

But McGinn seems to be happy with life at Villa for now and is dreaming of playing Premier League football in claret and blue, rather than with The Foxes.

“Hopefully still at Aston Villa playing in the Premier League, we all know this club belongs in the top flight. Hopefully I’ll be involved in it,” McGinn said when asked about his plans for the future.

Whether these comments stop Leicester from making a big-money bid remains to be seen.
