John McGinn has stated that Marvelous Nakamba was ‘everwhere’ on his Premier League debut for Aston Villa as he helped his side to a 0-0 draw against West Ham on Monday night.

Nakamba was one of 12 summer signings who was yet to feature in the Premier League, and despite giving the ball away on occasions, he looked very promising in the middle of the park.

He connected well with the likes of Jack Grealish and John McGinn, who were playing further up the field than him, with Dean Smith taking him off in the second half as his passing became a little sloppy.

After playing alongside him for the first time, McGinn was encouraged by what he saw from Nakamba and he is hoping he can continue to add more to his game.

“Marvelous was excellent tonight,” McGinn told AVTV. “He was everywhere. You see him winning second balls and feeding us lads up the pitch, so it was a great debut for him and hopefully, we can see much more from him.”

It was a very poor overall display from Villa, who became even more sloppy when West Ham were down to 10 men, as they will now be preparing for their Sunday clash against Arsenal.

Villa’s midfield, their wide players and their striker Wesley haven’t been able to form that connection yet, as it remains to be seen whether Smith will make changes for the weekend.

Arsenal go into the fixture on the back of a 2-2 draw against Watford where they let a two-goal lead slip, so they will be keen to react to that performance.

If Smith opts against starting Nakamba at the weekend then he might end up bringing back Douglas Luiz, who is a like for like replacement for Nakamba.
