Scott Hogan has one goal in 24 games for Aston Villa – Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos boasts a far more impressive record.

Aston Villa fans were understandably thrilled when their side completed the signing of Brentford striker Scott Hogan in the January transfer window. The Republic of Ireland striker had been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs after hitting 14 goals in 25 games for The Bees in the first half of 2016/17.
So far, however, Hogan has not even begun to repay his £12 million transfer fee (BBC). He scored just once in 13 games during an injury stricken start to life at Villa in the back end of the previous campaign but has hardly come roaring back to life in the new season.
So far, Hogan has failed to hit the net in 11 Championship games in 2017/18 – although only three of those outings have come from the start.
And with Villa interested in a January move for Rangers’ prolific frontman Alfredo Morelos, as reported by The Scotsman, you wonder what the future holds for another underperforming big-money signing.

What next for Hogan?
“I’ll be honest it has not gone great since I went to Villa,” Hogan candidly admitted to the Birmingham Mail at the start of the month after receiving his first call-up for Martin O’Neill’s Ireland.
Hogan even lost his place to academy graduate Keinan Davis in recent weeks, meaning he is currently third choice in Villa’s pecking order.
Though, if Morelos arrived in the Midlands in January, he could fall to fourth. The Colombian hitman has scored eight goals in 13 games for Rangers since moving from HJK Helsinki for just £1 million in the summer (Daily Record).

And the Scotsman claimed that Villa, along with four other Championship clubs, have been tracking the 21-year-old’s progress north of the border.
Morelos looks like a natural born goalscorer and, with Hogan still stuck on one in 24 games for Villa, the 25-year-old may soon be looking over his shoulder once again.
