The 21-year-old earned a place in the papers for the right reasons with his stunning winner against Wigan recently.
Jack Grealish says he could not envisage working with a better manager than Steve Bruce as he aims to get his career back on track at Villa Park, the Birmingham Mail reports
The talented 21-year-old has been dogged by off-the-field problems since gliding onto the scene at Aston Villa during latter stages of the 2014/15 season under Tim Sherwood.
However, Grealish’s face has more often appeared on the back pages rather than the front since then.
Yet, the playmaker blames his previous indiscretions on inexperience, suggesting that he is ready to start fulfilling his early promise under the guise of new manager Bruce.
“Some things have happened in the past and I put it down to myself. I’ve been a bit young, a bit inexperienced,” Grealish said in quotes reported by the Birmingham Mail.
“I didn’t know what it would be like. I broke through and I found it difficult to deal with to be honest. I thought I’d just be the same old Jack. I struggled with the limelight.
“I’ve had some good advice off people and now I want to concentrate on my football and I’ve got the perfect manager here.
“You can see the impact he has made at the club. He just instilled a great belief and confidence in the boys, and you can see that in our performances.
“I’d be happy to play anywhere for this manager. When you get on the pitch you’ve got to take your chance and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Grealish has only made five Championship starts since Bruce took the reins from Roberto Di Matteo in October though he scored only his third goal of the season against Wigan Athletic earlier this month, a brilliant curling shot right at the death to cap a Man of the Match display.
However, the England Under-21 international is still yet to iron out the dramatic peaks and troughs in his performance levels, with the dazzling display against The Latics preceeding a performance in the 1-0 defeat to Norwich so poor that he was dropped against QPR.
Grealish may be happy to play anywhere under Bruce, but he’s got to earn the right to start on a regular basis.
