Aston Villa boss Dean Smith was left frustrated as his side failed to get past a 10 man Arsenal side yesterday.

Villa came out of the blocks at half time impressively, as they looked to build on their 1-0 lead against Arsenal’s 10 men.
Unfortunately for Smith’s side they were unable to score the goal that they craved, and as the second half progressed Arsenal started to have more of the game.
Nicolas Pepe struck and equaliser for Unai Emery’s men, but Villa went back in front when Wesley hit the back of the net.
At that stage it seemed as if Villa were on their way to three points, but Arsenal netted two late goals to break the hearts of the Midlands side.
And Smith was very disappointed with the way that his side defended during the contest.
“First 10 minutes of the second half I said to JT that we could go and win this 3-0, I felt there was a lot of belief there,” Smith said.

“When the second goal didn’t come we just got a bit deeper and invited them on. We made silly decisions.”
Villa will have to now reflect on an opportunity missed, as they had a real chance to pull off an upset yesterday.
Villa have now failed to beat 10 men twice, and they will realise that if they keep passing up opportunities to claim three points it could be a long season.
