Middlesbrough appear to not be interested in snapping up reported Aston Villa target Romaine Sawyers.

However, Boro are no longer believed to be in the race for Sawyers, which could boost Villa’s chances of landing him significantly.
Villa boss Dean Smith knows the playmaker well from their time together at Brentford, and he could be an appealing addition to the claret and blues’ attacking ranks.

Sawyers would offer Villa another creative outlet going forward, as they push for promotion.
The 27-year-old would be in competition with the likes of Jack Grealish, Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie for a place in Smith’s starting line-up, if he was to join up with the Midlands side.
