Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Josh Onomah to play more than he did at Aston Villa last season.

Villa had Onomah on loan from Spurs last season, and Steve Bruce made no secret of his desire to bring him back earlier this summer.
However, Villa’s financial problems meant that no deal was possible in the early stages of the summer.
The claret and blues do now have the finances to bring Onomah in, following their takeover, but it seems that Spurs weren’t too impressed with how little he was used last season.
“He’s a little bit behind the rest but we’re working and I’m going to decide if he’s a player that can stay with us or maybe if we believe he can play more, to find maybe some alternative for him to play more than last season,” Bruce said. “But to try for him to be more involved than he was last season at Aston Villa.”

Onomah did get plenty of game time at Villa last season, but he never really established himself as a permanent starter.
By the end of the season the England youth international was basically a reserve option for Steve Bruce’s side.
And if Villa did want to bring Onomah back, it seems that they would have to promise Spurs he would play far more often than he did last campaign.
