Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

According to a report in The Telegraph last month, Aston Villa could try to sign Gary Cahill on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
It is quite an ambitious transfer plan, but Villa did manage to persuade Chelsea legend John Terry to spend a season in the Championship.
Cahill may be struggling for playing time at Chelsea at the moment, but the 32-year-old central defender is still a very good player who can be successful in the Championship.
Villa’s chances of signing the England international has probably been boosted by a report in Calciomercato.com that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has told the defender that he can leave in January.

If Sarri has no problem in letting Cahill leave in the middle of the season, then the Villans should certainly make a move and at least try to convince the former Bolton Wanderers star to step down to the Championship.
After all, Cahill started his professional club football career at Villa, and the Villans are challenging for automatic promotion to the Premier League from the Championship this season.
