Aston Villa playmaker Callum O’Hare will be hoping to impress manager Dean Smith during pre-season as he could be heading out on loan again ahead of the new campaign.
Aston Villa’s Callum O’Hare has heaped praise on Dean Smith for helping him develop his game ‘a lot’ since he took charge of the club las October.
Playmaker O’Hare has only played 55 minutes under Smith and that was an FA Cup tie against Swansea City in January before he was loaned out to Carlisle United.
The 21-year-old flourished during his time in League Two, as he is currently part of Smith’s pre-season plans and will be looking to play a part during their Premier League campaign.
It is fair to say that over the years, quality-wise, O’Hare had outgrown the U23’s as he explained how Smith has helped improve his game and how much his loan spell last season changed him.
“Pre-season aside, things are all good. I’ve learned more than ever in 2019 thanks to the loan spell with Carlisle,” O’Hare told Villa’s official website. “It proved to be a really valuable experience.
“I feel like I’ve improved as a player massively. It was great to get a lot of game time and chip in with goals and assists. It’s an exciting time here.
“I’ve really enjoyed the first three days of the tour and always feel I learn a lot under Dean Smith technically. Both with the ball and without. He’s helped me develop a lot since he’s arrived.”
O’Hare will have to play seriously well during pre-season if he is to be part of Villa’s Premier League plans ahead of the new campaign.
There is a lot of competition ahead of him for those attacking places in the middle of the park, as another loan deal might work better for both parties this summer.
As O’Hare mentioned, he learnt a lot from his loan spell at Carlisle, but that was only for six-months, as a season-long loan would certainly develop his game even further.
