The Aston Villa winger is said to have moved to Portsmouth despite higher division clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town, being keen.

Aston Villa’s Andre Green had interest from four Championship clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town, before his move to Portsmouth, according to Portsmouth.co.uk.
Green signed for Pompey on a season-long loan deal yesterday (Thursday) after Villa brought in Everton’s Yannick Bolasie under a similar arrangement.
The 20-year-old has been tipped for big things at Aston Villa, but saw his progress stall to injury last season. And playing regular football was at the forefront of Green’s mind when the chance to leave arose.
“It was nice to know the clubs (reportedly Blackburn, Ipswich and previously linked pair Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers) were interested. It’s nice to feel wanted again,” winger Green told Portsmouth.co.uk. “But it’s good to feel I’m going to be part of something here.

“It was interesting to know those clubs were looking at me, but it was a no-brainer knowing the history of the club and how the fans have stuck by their team.
“To come to Portsmouth was an easy choice for me. It’s a massive club to be here and it’s exciting.
“I need to play regular football. I can’t wait for Saturday to come around now and get stuck in. It’s really exciting.”
Blackburn have this week been linked with a return for Harry Chapman, the Middlesbrough winger, while Ipswich have already strengthened in Green’s position with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jordan Graham.

Green’s spell at Portsmouth, who are third in the League One standings, is his first away from Aston Villa, whose academy he progressed through.
