Aston Villa youngster Andre Green has taken to Twitter after playing 90 minutes in an Under-23 clash with Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

Villa’s first team may be struggling for results right now, but their youngsters picked up a win over Middlesbrough at Darlington’s Northern Echo Arena.

The likes of Jordan Lyden and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy were in Villa’s line-up, but they fell behind as Carlos De Pena struck Middlesbrough in front before half time.

However, Villa came from behind to win in the second half, as Keinan Davis made it 1-1 before Khalid Abdo grabbed the winner for Villa’s youngsters.

One of the key talking points in the game was winger Andre Green starting, as he looks to work his way back up to Roberto Di Matteo’s first team.

Green, 18, has come up through the ranks at Villa Park, and having recently signed a new contract, he appears to be one of the club’s top players for the future.

The wide man has played five times in the Championship so far this season, but those substitute appearances have amounted to 34 minutes of action.

Green is looking to keep himself fit given that he isn’t playing regular first-team football right now, and his 90 minutes against Middlesbrough will have helped massively.

After the final whistle on Monday, Green took to Twitter to send a message to supporters, commenting on a ‘good win’ before admitting that he is starting to feel fitter after playing 90 minutes.
