Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno has stated that he has been ‘most surprised’ by the stadiums of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

The Spanish left-back has played at both stadiums, winning at Tottenham last season and watching from the bench as Unai Emery’s side beat Spurs 2-1 last month.

But Alex Moreno has only played half an hour at Anfield – last season – as Villa recorded a 1-1 draw that, in the end, helped them secure a European finish.

And now, 12 months into playing Premier League football, it seems as though the former Real Sociedad man has been taken aback by the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Liverpool’s Anfield, as he told Jimantes FC.

It could be argued that Spurs possibly have the best stadium and facilities in Europe, after spending over £1bn on a new ground.

Whilst those in London are possibly the best in the world off the pitch, they now need to match it on the field of play.

“The stadium that has surprised me the most so far is that of the Spurs and Anfield,” said Moreno.”

Aston Villa’s home record at Villa Park

15 Premier League home wins on the bounce for the Midlands side, including beating Spurs last season.

It’s a club-record and it has them sitting third in the Premier League table and in with a chance of winning the title.

The aim at the start of the season was to secure Champions League football – given that Villa are five points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham, then that is on track.

And it can also allow them to look ahead because they are only two points behind leaders Liverpool.
