Aston Villa should have cashed in on Jordan Amavi when they had the chance.

After prolific spending last summer, Aston Villa will have to balance the books this time around as they look to escape the Championship.
The Mirror report Villa are going to have to sell before they buy this summer in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, and have a transfer budget of just £1 million.
This situation could have been looking a lot more healthy had they taken the decision to sell Jordan Amavi when the opportunity came up, for a staggering £25 million.

Club owner Tony Xia boasted on Twitter this past season how they had rejected an approach from an unnamed club for the left-back.
Amavi was impressive in his Premier League stint before his serious knee injury, but was underwhelming in the Championship.
His performances in no way matched a £25 million level talent, and Villa can only hope they get such an offer again.

Xia was showing that Villa are not under any pressure to sell any of their players from a funding perspective, but with the FFP rules in place, they will have to make smart decisions.
Failing to cash in on Amavi was not one of them, but it could still become an option this summer to raise funds for new additions even if they don’t get near the original offer.
