Aston Villa are so keen on signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma that they will wait until the summer to strike a deal.
That’s according to The Express, who claim that Villa are desperate for midfield additions under Steven Gerrard.
Juventus ace Rodrigo Bentancur is a prime target, but signing the Uruguayan won’t change Villa’s stance on signing Bissouma.
Villa are prepared to wait until summer if they can’t tempt Brighton into selling Bissouma now, and will go back in at the end of the season.
Brighton don’t want to sell Bissouma at any price, but Villa may throw money at the Seagulls in an attempt to strike a deal.
Villa do have midfielders in their ranks, with the likes of Douglas Luiz, Morgan Sanson, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey at Gerrard’s disposal.
Yet with Sanson yet to shine in England and Luis attracting admiring glances from elsewhere, Villa are prepared to strike for midfielders.
Bissouma would be a huge coup regardless of whether Villa do a deal this month or at the end of the season.

The Malian midfielder has impressed as a ball-carrier for Brighton, showing the ability to go past players and work from box-to-box effortlessly.
Branded ‘sensational’ and ‘tailor-made for Liverpool’ by Ian Wright, Bissouma has attracted interest from the Premier League’s top clubs.
Having already landed the sensational signings of Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho, Bissouma would show Villa really mean business.
If Villa sign both Bentancur and Bissouma inside the next six months, Villa may be able to field a midfield ready to compete with the top six.
That’s the goal for Gerrard, and any midfield player would surely love to play under the Liverpool legend – something that could be a factor if there is a scramble for Bissouma this summer.
