Aston Villa suffered a damaging defeat at Brentford on Wednesday night.
Aston Villa youngster Ethan Patterson and Head of Academy recruitment Tom Brady sent their congratulations to Jacob Ramsey on Twitter after he made the matchday squad against Brentford.
The 17-year-old was an unused substitute by Dean Smith as Villa fell to a damaging 1-0 defeat, with the manager opting to bring on fellow academy product Andre Green instead and the experienced Ahmed Elmohamady.

Despite not making the field, the attacking-midfielder would have been delighted with earning that first senior call-up as he will be hoping to make it a regular occurrence in months to come.
Villa youngster Patterson, who plays as a defender, as posted on the club’s official website and Villa Head of Academy recruitment, Brady, sent these messages from their personal Twitter accounts to Ramsey.
As reported by the Birmingham Mail, in 2016, Brady left Stoke City to become Villa’s new talent-spotter as he would have no doubt have had some sort of impact on Ramsey’s recent rise.
The youngster has been playing for the U-18 and U-23 age groups in recent months and impressing his coaches because it has earned him a spot on the club’s bench.
Over the course of this season, Ramsey has played 17 games in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying his teammates with two assists, according to transfermarkt.
Added with that in recent weeks, he has played in Premier League 2 where he assisted during his side’s thumping 5-1 win against Manchester United last month.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if he will be part of Villa’s set-up in the coming months because Smith has a number of senior midfielders in his ranks.
During the game at Brentford, January signing Tom Carroll, Jack Grealish and Henri Lansbury were missing from the squad.
