The young Villans ran out 3-0 winners over the Magpies in Monday’s Premier League 2 game at Whitley Park.

Aston Villa’s Under-23s ran out convincing 3-0 winners over Newcastle United in Monday night’s Premier League 2 fixture at Whitley Park.
Just one day after the first team’s superb 1-0 triumph over bitter Second City rivals Birmingham City, the second string did their bit for the club with a superb performance of their own.
Villa’s U23s, boasting a young line-up, were too much for the Magpies to handle and looked sharp and dangerous from the off, taking the lead in the 16th minute.
Tyriek Wright’s corner was swung in from the left-hand side and Harvey Knibbs got his head on the ball, trickling over the line for the breakthrough amid poor host defending.
The provider added a second assist to his tally when, in first-half injury time, he crossed into the box from the right and Lewis Brunt scrambled the ball into the net from close range.
Newcastle failed to muster much of a response and Villa added a cherry on top when, in the latter stages, Kelsey Mooney rounded the Magpies goalkeeper and slotted home.

The result sees Kevin MacDonald’s side leapfrog Newcastle into fourth in the PL2 table and now have a seven-point buffer inside the playoffs with three games left.
Following the game, some Villa fans took to Twitter and made their feelings known about the victory:
