Aston Villa new arrival Trezeguet has been described as “currently the best Egyptian talent” by one of Egypt’s leading pundits (Tuttomercatoweb).

The 24-year-old – real name Mahmoud Hassan – becomes the Premier League new-boys’ ninth summer signing in an £8.75million deal, according to BBC Sport.

Trezeguet, who made four appearances and scored one goal at this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations hosted by his country, joins Dean Smith’s side from Turkish club Kasimpasa.

Onsport pundit Mohamed Hosny Almahmoudy, in conversation with Tuttomercatoweb, spoke highly of the player’s potential and reliability, but also gave his opinion on what he could improve.

“He is currently the best Egyptian talent,” Almahmoudy said. “In the Africa Cup he showed great potential and has improved in terms of character, so any team can count on him without problems.”

When asked about his pros and cons, the pundit replied: “Quick with the ball at his feet, that’s his best characteristic. Goes for goal and thanks to Hector Cuper (former Egypt coach) he’s improved tactically and is more selfless. Furthermore he always scores or assists in the meaningful games.

“On the other hand, he should look to improve his aim a bit more. (Mohamed) Salah had the same problem, I remember his first season at Roma.”

Trezeguet started his career with Egyptian side Al Ahly before moving to Anderlecht in 2015, joining Kasimpasa two years later, and has 41 caps for the Pharaohs (Transfermarkt).

Since winning promotion to the Premier League in May, Villa have signed Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause, Matt Targett, Wesley, Anwar El Ghazi and Jota ahead of bringing Trezeguet to Villa Park.
