Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has urged Dani Ceballos to stay at the club amid reported transfer interest from Aston Villa, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire this summer.

Taking to Twitter, the Brazilian international sent a two-word message simply saying ‘Stay Ceballos’ in response to a training ground image of the Spanish midfielder embracing Vinicius, with the pair forming a fantastic friendship over the last two seasons.

With Ceballos’ contract due to end following on from this season, transfer interest is increasing in the former Arsenal loanee, with Marca recently reporting that Villa are one of the clubs keen on signing the Madrid playmaker, with Unai Emery’s side already having an offer rejected by Los Blancos.

The Spanish manager was the one who brought Ceballos to the Premier League in the first place having signed the midfielder on loan from Madrid, with Mikel Arteta extending the deal by an extra season the following year. And since returning to La Liga, the midfielder is yet to find his feet.

Indeed, whilst Ceballos has established himself as an integral part of the Madrid dressing room, it looks unlikely that the Spaniard will stay at Real beyond this season, with Villa in a good position to make a swoop for the 26-year-old superstar in the summer.

Ceballos would be making a poor decision in staying with Real Madrid

Leaving a club as big as Madrid is difficult for any player, yet for Ceballos at this stage in his career, the midfielder would be making a foolish move in choosing to stay with Real, with a move to a side like Villa something that could kickstart his footballing life back into action.

Players have fallen into the trap of getting too comfortable at Madrid with the high wages and constant silverware despite hardly playing a role on the pitch, and for Ceballos, a move away from Spain’s biggest club should be his main priority come the end of the season.
