Udinese are reportedly building in confidence that star attacker Gerard Deulofeu will stay at the club despite interest in January from the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham.
According to Mondo Udinese, the Serie A side believe that the Spanish forward will be keen to remain in Italy for at least one more season even with Deulofeu attracting transfer interest from Tottenham and Unai Emery’s Villa in the January window.
As per the report, there was previously an expectation that Deulofeu would leave Udinese having been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time. However, the former Everton star could now remain in Udine for another year despite Tottenham and Villa’s interest.
Once lauded as ‘unplayable’ by BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks, Deulofeu has once again been in impressive form for Udinese this season, with the winger-turned-striker bagging two goals and six assists in Serie A, with the 29-year-old hitting 13 goals in the division last year.

Indeed, Deulofeu is firmly at the peak of his career and enjoying the best spell of his footballing life, and it’s perhaps no surprise why the attacker could now remain with the Friulani, with a return to the Premier League at this stage something that could go very badly for the former FC Barcelona winger.
We have seen Deulofeu at both Everton and Watford in England, and whilst the attacker wasn’t a terrible player for either side, it’s a good assumption to make that the forward has found his home at Udinese, with a move back to the Premier League something that might not even be crossing the attacker’s mind.
Deulofeu would be making a smart decision to stay at Udinese

Deulofeu’s Serie A career has been an impressive one, to say the least, and whilst there will be a temptation to return to England for a big club like Villa or Tottenham, the winger himself could already be aware that staying in Italy is the best decision for his career.
As mentioned, Deulofeu is firmly at the peak of his attacking and creative powers, and whilst the Spaniard could do a job in England, Udinese has become the 29-year-old’s home, and remaining at the club for another year or two would be a wise decision for the former Watford star.
