A select round-up of the latest news relating to Aston Villa…

Ross McCormack is closing in on a move to Aston Villa after the Fulham striker travelled to the midlands for his medical today (as reported by Sky Sports).
According to the BBC, the Villans had a £12million accepted earlier in the day, and now only the formalities need to be processed before an exciting deal is concluded for Roberto Di Matteo’s side.

In other news, Ciaran Clark has left Villa Park for Championship rivals Newcastle United.
The centre-back’s future has been speculated about for some time now so it is no real surprise to see him move on, although it is a shock that Villa have opted to strengthen a direct rival for promotion.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Villa have tried to hijack Mohamed Diame’s move to Newcastle with a bid of their own.
But with the Hull midfielder already completing a medical at St James’ Park it was always going to be a long shot.

And finally, according to the Mirror, Villa are interested in bringing Manchester United centre-back Paddy McNair in on loan.
The Northern Ireland international broke through at Old Trafford under former boss Louis van Gaal but he appears to be surplus to requirements – at least in the short term – now Jose Mourinho is in charge.
