Marco Asensio has now decided to leave Real Madrid as a free agent this summer amid interest from Aston Villa. But the Spain star has identified a more tempting transfer.
That is according to ESPN, which reports that Asensio will now reject a new contract at Real Madrid. The La Liga giant had tabled a financially enticing offer to the 27-year-old. The deal was enough to satisfy the midfielder’s requests but he feels now is the time they part ways.
Asensio has elected to walk away from the Santiago Bernabeu after eight years after rarely starting in games this season. Carlo Ancelotti has only picked the 35-cap international in his line-up in a top-flight game 15 times. Even though Asensio has hit nine goals and six assists.

Asensio is in advanced transfer talks with Paris Saint-Germain
AC Milan, Aston Villa and Juventus have already shown an interest in Asensio with the Real Madrid star available in a free transfer. His existing contract with Los Blancos will expire on June 30. The Palma native will also walk away as a three-time Champions League winner.
But Asensio is currently likely to snub a transfer to Aston Villa, AC Milan or Juventus having entered into advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain. He finds the Ligue 1 side’s offer to be the most tempting at present. PSG are seeking new forwards who can replace Lionel Messi.
Neymar may also leave the Parc des Princes this summer, so PSG are eager to add weapons around Kylian Mbappe. Thus Paris Saint-Germain appreciate the chance to sign Asensio in a free transfer. The Ligue 1 outfit also feel the midfielder still has his best years ahead of him.

Emery is pushing Aston Villa’s interest in the Real Madrid star
The possible departures of Messi and Neymar from the Parc des Princes are potentially key factors in Asensio’s stance. He has decided to leave Real Madrid as Asensio knows his lack of starts will not improve next season. But the Spaniard’s agent is also a prominent influence.
ESPN adds that Jorge Mendes, Asensio’s agent, shares a good relationship with Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Luis Campos. So, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery may face an unsuccessful bid to improve his squad with a player Vicente del Bosque called ‘world-class’.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reports that Emery is pushing Aston Villa’s interest in Asensio’s free transfer from Real Madrid. He also notes that the Villans have tabled a very important offer to the Spaniard. Yet their interest now trails that of Paris Saint-Germain’s.
