Italian outlet CMW claim Juventus could request Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker in a swap deal, with Villa keen to bring USA World Cup star Weston McKennie to the Midlands before the end of the January transfer window.

McKennie, 24, played for Juve last night as Arkadisuz Milik netted a late free-kick to beat Cremonese. It was his 92nd game for the Old Lady; seems content. But throughout his time at Juve, he has been linked with the Premier League.

Corriere Della Sera reported this week that McKennie is to reject a move to Bournemouth as he is waiting for interest from Tottenham. But it is unclear what the £31m-rated star’s stance is on a move to Aston Villa under Unai Emery.

The latest report states that Villa are interested in landing McKennie this month. However, Juventus are considering using Villa’s McKennie interest to their advantage. Indeed, they could request Dendoncker is included in a deal.

Juventus could request Villa midfielder Dendoncker in McKennie deal

McKennie is a top midfielder. Bundles of energy and more than able to have an impact in the final third. In his 92 games, he has had a hand in 17 goals. He does not fit the style of Serie A football – he is a Premier League-style player.

On the other hand, Dendoncker seems like the kind of player that is perfectly suited to Italian football. A bit slower, physical and a handful from set-pieces. Able to play in a back three or in holding midfield, he is ideal to Juve’s system.

So, it makes sense for Juve to request the £15m Belgian. He suits Juve more than McKennie, and the latter suits Villa more than Dendoncker. If the two sides can come to an agreement, it would be a wonderful bit of business, for both.
