Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who will reject a move to Sean Dyche’s Everton in the final hours of the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Aston Villa want Everton target Conor Gallagher from Chelsea

The report has claimed that Villa are among the clubs who have expressed interest in signing Gallagher from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and West Ham United all have expressed interest in the 22-year-old England international.

Everton have made an offer of £45 million to Chelsea for Gallagher, according The Daily Mail.

However, The Athletic have reported that the midfielder does not fancy a move to the Toffees and will reject the chance to join the Merseyside club.

Could a January transfer happen?

In our view, Aston Villa could be able to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but the Villans will have to work extremely hard to get a deal done.

Now, Everton have offered £45 million for the 22-year-old, which means that the Villans will have to match that fee.

Would Villa do that?

Moreover, the Villans will also have to convince the youngster to move to Villa Park in the middle of the season.

True, Gallagher is not guaranteed a place in the Chelsea starting lineup now, but the £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder could just decide to see out the rest of the season and then take time to make a decision on his future.
