Aston Villa have just landed a potential boost for Unai Emery’s interest in a transfer for Moussa Diaby as Christian Falk notes that Bayer Leverkusen now expect he will leave.
Sport Bild journalist Falk has reported that Bayer Leverkusen ‘know that Diaby will leave’ as a clutch of Premier League teams explore his transfer. Arsenal have monitored the 24-year-old for a number of months. While Newcastle United are also very attentive to his situation now.
Bayer Leverkusen have also just signed Diaby’s likely replacement with Jonas Hofmann from Borussia Monchengladbach for €10m (£8.5m). So, Falk also notes that ‘they want to sell him’ as Die Werkself are eager to generate funds through Diaby’s transfer after his strong season.

Bayer Leverkusen ‘want to sell’ and ‘know that Diaby will leave’
Diaby’s market value might soon start to regress as the Frenchman is only under contract for two further years. His terms at BayArena are due to expire in June 2025 having not extended his contract since December 2020. He earned fresh terms 17 months after joining from PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain afforded Diaby 34 games over the 2018/19 season but cashed in on his four goals and seven assists. The nine-cap speedster has since registered 49 goals and 48 assists in 172 outings for Bayer Leverkusen. He offered 14 goals and 11 assists over 2022/23.

Aston Villa will make a new offer for Diaby’s transfer imminently
Such a productive record over 48 games for Bayer Leverkusen last term has tempted Aston Villa to target Diaby’s transfer. Emery has offered £30m plus add-ons for the Paris-born star, per talkSPORT. But Die Werkself feel the PSG product is actually worth in excess of £50m.
Not to be deterred by Bayer Leverkusen’s initial refusal, Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa will table a second bid for Diaby’s transfer. The Villa Park natives are clear in their plans to pursue the French forward. Romano also noted recently that Diaby is open to joining Villa.
Aston Villa’s chase of Diaby’s transfer may also not stop Emery from targeting Jadon Sancho of Manchester United. According to Rudy Galetti, the Villa Park boss hopes to sign new stars for both wings. The Villans have also made enquiries to sound out the Red Devils’ demands.
