The Colombian is currently thriving at Fiorentina on loan.
Aston Villa’s Carlos Sanchez looks dejected
Aston Villa will be losing Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez in the summer on a permanent deal, according to reports this week.
The bullish midfielder was sent out to Fiorentina on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Now Fiorentina want to buy him permanently in the summer and will pay €2.75 million (£2.4 million) for the privilege – as reported by Firenze Viola.
That would be a loss to Villa. According to the Daily Mail the Colombian cost Aston Villa £4.7 million when they signed him from Elche in the summer of 2014.
The fact they are about to lose £2.3 million on the player is even more concerning when considering his excellent form for Fiorentina this season.
Tottenham’s Erik Lamela in action with Aston Villa’s Carlos Sanchez
The 31-year-old has played in 24 Serie A games this season for La Viola, and has gone into a defensive position at the club, so will be happy to pay just £2.4 million to bring him in.
They know they are getting a bargain whilst Villa will wonder how this has managed to backfire so spectacularly.
