Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Leeds United ‘never give up’ and their performance at Aston Villa is an example of that, as he told his Liverpool press conference.

The Liverpool boss stated that Leeds United’s 3-3 draw at Villa Park at the start of the month was ‘really spectacular’.

After taking an early lead against Steven Gerrard’s side, Leeds then found themselves 3-1 down, before pulling the game back to 3-3 in the second half.

Whilst Marcelo Bielsa has seen his players ship a lot of goals this season, including of late, they are still pretty prolific in the attacking third.

Ahead of Leeds United’s trip to Anfield on Wednesday night, Klopp shared his thoughts on the Yorkshire club.

“We have to be ready for an incredibly intense game and a big fight against Leeds,” said Klopp.

“They fight for staying in the Premier League. If you can say one thing about this team, they really, really, really never give up.

“They had a difficult spell around December when they got a few knocks. But that’s over, since then, the results have become much tighter.

“The Aston Villa game, for example, was a really spectacular one. Villa thought they might be through (at 3-1) and then they were not because Leeds came back.”

There is no doubt that Leeds are defensively fragile and there will be that fear that they can ship quite a lot at Anfield.

The last time the Whites faced off against Premier League title challengers – Manchester City – they conceded seven goals.

Just like against Manchester United on Sunday, if Leeds concede that early goal, then it might just prove to be a difficult evening on Merseyside.

Whilst the Reds can close the gap to table-toppers Manchester City to three points, Leeds are also looking over their shoulders in their relegation dogfight.
