Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos is already a man in demand with Aston Villa among five Championship clubs expressing an interest.

The statistics alone make it easy to understand why Aston Villa have sent scouts to watch Rangers’ goalscoring phenomenon Alfredo Morelos just 10 games after he arrived on British soil from Finnish football, per the Scotsman.

Morelos has scored eight times already in Rangers colours, including six in six in the league, and looks like one of the most inspired bargain signings on the continent with the Ibrox giants paying HJK Helsinki just £1 million for his services (Daily Record).

And it’s fair to say Morelos’ agent, Jonne Lindblom, saw the explosion a mile off. Morelos does, as he says, share a few striking similarities with a certain £65 million centre-forward (The Mirror).

‘Usually he scores’

“Rangers are getting an extremely talented young player who is hungry to do well. I know he will end up playing in one of the big four or five leagues in the future,” Lindblom told the Daily Record back in June.

“He is 20-years-old, his scoring record is really impressive. He’s a brilliant finisher, he’s strong, he’s technical, he works hard and he’s improving all the time. That’s why I expect he’ll go even further than Rangers.

“In terms of his style of play he reminds me a bit of Luis Suarez. Obviously only one of them is a world class player but, in terms of how he controls the ball, how he shoots in really small spaces without needing a lot of time.

“Once he gets the ball at his feet inside the box he will shoot and usually he scores.”

Luis Suarez of Barcelona celebrates scoring his team's fifth goal during the La Liga match between Barcelona and Espanyol at Camp Nou on September 9, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.

Morelos certainly has a long way to go to match the exploits of Barcelona’s number nine. Suarez is one of the world’s most prolific and feared hitmen, scoring a remarkable 315 goals in 444 games for Ajax, Liverpool and Barcelona while winning the European Golden Shoe on two occasions.

However, you have to start somewhere and Villa fans will be hoping that, if they beat off competition from Barnsley, Bristol City, Derby County and Reading, Morelos will begin following in Suarez’s footsteps.
