Tammy Abraham is again being linked with an Aston Villa return amid claims in Italy that Roma are ready to sell him for around €50million (£43million).

Abraham was outstanding in his first season with Roma, smashing 27 goals in 53 games after joining from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old was seemingly loving life in Italy and appeared nailed on for a spot in England’s World Cup squad.

It all seems to have gone wrong for Abraham though, managing just three goals in 15 Serie A games this season.

Abraham lost his form at the worst possible time and missed out on the World Cup – and a 2023 transfer could be in the pipeline.

Tammy Abraham is again being linked with an Aston Villa return

Corriere dello Sport reported in November that Aston Villa and Tottenham are both eyeing up moves to bring Abraham back to England.

Calciomercato also suggested that Arsenal are keen admirers of Abraham and could make a move for him.

Abraham grew up supporting Arsenal and The Athletic reported that Abraham was actually desperate to join Arsenal in 2021 before his Roma move.

Yet for all the Arsenal rumours, the link to Aston Villa – and former Gunners boss Unai Emery – appears to be stronger.

Radio Radio in Rome report that Roma are willing to let Abraham leave for around €50million (£43million), a much lower fee than imagined over the summer.

They add that Abraham is ‘not happy’ at Roma right now and a return to England may be his solution.

It’s noted that Aston Villa and Emery are particularly keen on Abraham and could emerge as the destination for the lanky striker.

Abraham, 25, does have an emotional connection to Villa.

Abraham spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Villa and fired 25 league goals to help the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Villa do though have a couple of strikers in Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings with Cameron Archer desperate for a chance behind them.

Signing another striker without selling somebody would be a strange move from Villa but Abraham would certainly be an exciting addition for Emery and co.
