Aston Villa supporting Prince William not pleased with Liverpool over Christian Benteke deal

The pessimist also believes Liverpool will beat his side this weekend.

This summer saw Aston Villa make wholesale changes to their squad, some of which were less than desired. Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke both had their release clauses met by Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool respectively – leaving Villa shorn of perhaps their two best players.

The latter’s move was considerably upsetting. The Belgian has become a hero to Villa fans in recent years and was their main goal threat.

However, a deal reported by the BBC to be in the region of £32.5 million was fair compensation and Villa look to have invested the money wisely.

Accept, whilst some Villa fans may have accepted the move and got on with their lives, one very famous one has not.

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, was apparently not best pleased at the move – as reported by the Western Daily News.

William and his brother Prince Harry have been helping out in a special Armed Forces edition of BBC programme DIY SOS. One of the builds was for a Liverpool supporting former Royal Engineer Andy Walton – who said of William:

“It was cracking. I found William very talkative. I was having a lot of banter with him about the football. We have got them this Saturday. He was saying ‘you stole our best player but I think you will win this Saturday’.”

Aston Villa take on Liverpool this weekend – however Benteke will not be present because of a hamstring problem.

Tim Sherwood better mind his luck though – it seems the Duke has a rather keen interest in the club this season and it would be wise not to disappoint royalty.
