Sheffield Wednesday gave been linked with a move for the Aston Villa right-back.
The Sun’s claim that Sheffield Wednesday are trying to sign Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton has sparked a strong social media reaction from fans of both teams.
Wednesday are said to be hoping to agree a fee with Villa and speak to the player today [Tuesday].
Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton
Hutton was part of the Villans side which dropped embarrassingly out of the Premier League last year, although his performances in the Championship appear to have won many fans back around.
The 32-year-old managed to keep January signing James Bree out of Steve Bruce’s side, and recently had his contract extended by another year as he approached the end of his existing deal.
However, as Ritchie De Laet closes on a return to fitness it’s plausible that Villa would consider moving on Hutton, with promotion rivals Wednesday seemingly keen to tempt them into a sale.
A new right-back would feature on many Owls supporters’ shopping lists, although with an ageing squad already the Hutton reports have not been well received in Sheffield 6.
And there are plenty of Aston Villa fans whose views appear to support those Wednesdayites’ concerns…
