Pierluigi Gollini has told the Birmingham Mail that Steve Bruce has made a positive impression since joining Aston Villa.

Bruce has now been in charge at Villa for just over a week, and he has made an encouraging start.

The 55-year-old boss is still unbeaten, after taking charge of the claret and blues for three matches.

Gollini says that it is not just on the field where Bruce has made a difference, though, as the Italian stopper has also been impressed by the former Hull City’s boss’s training sessions.

“He is a very experienced man,” Gollini said.

“He has a big character and personality and has given us confidence, maybe the confidence we were missing a bit, though it is always hard when you are not getting results.

“Every training session has been positive. It’s good for us.”

Bruce has taken over from Roberto Di Matteo at Villa, after the Midlands side experienced a poor start to the campaign.

Villa won just one of their first 11 Championship matches, but they have not put together back-to-back victories.

Villa beat Reading 2-1 last week, and they then triumphed 1-0 over Fulham in their latest outing.

The Villans are still stationed in 16th place in the Championship, but they have closed the gap to the play off places down to six points.
