Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham reportedly opted against joining Wolverhampton Wanderers, with reports now linking them with Birmingham City’s Che Adams.
Earlier in January, Wolves were trying their utmost best to sign Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham from his parent club Chelsea.
As reported by Sky Sports, the in-form 21-year-old loanee opted to snub a temporary move to the Premier League side and stay at Villa Park in the Championship.
Now, the Mirror claims that Wolves are one of 12 Premier League clubs interested in Birmingham City striker Che Adams ahead of a possible January transfer.
Wolves’ decision to effectively move on from Abraham and potentially target Adams instead will delight the Villa supporters for a number of reasons.
Despite their struggles in the Championship, 16-goal man Abraham now looks certain to stay at the club to help them in their promotion bid and on top of that his snub to Wolves means Birmingham could lose their key man.
If Abraham had potentially decided to join Wolves then Villa’s bitter rivals, who are sitting outside of the playoff places, would not be losing such an important player, which could now quite possibly derail their campaign.
Over the course of the season, Adams has scored 13 goals and provided four assists to his teammates from his 27 league matches.
The former Sheffield United player has scored in back-to-back games for his club as Garry Monk’s side, who were tipped to struggle this term, look to close the gap on the Championship’s top-six.
