The Czech striker suffered a broken leg not long after initially signing for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa’s forgotten striker Libor Kozak has been discussing his chances of first-team football at the club and his poor injury record since arriving at Villa Park.

Libor Kozak cost the club a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £7 million back in 2013.

The Czech Republic striker had starred in the Europa League with Lazio and it was hoped he could be a regular goalscorer in English football.

He broke his leg six months later and has struggled to play regular football for Villa since.

He spoke to Lazio Press this weekend when he made it clear he was now fully recovered from injury and hoping to force his way into Aston Villa starting contention yet again:

“Finally, I’m fine. I’m recovering from the accident, even if it takes time before you see me 100%.

“I’m available to the coach. The worst is over now I’m focused to win me back the starting spot and help Aston Villa to do well.”

Yesterday saw Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce admit that Kozak was likely to leave in January. He was speaking to the Birmingham Mail when he admitted that the Czech striker was likely to be on his way out of the exit door in the January:

“To be fair to the boy, he’s just got himself back training and fit..

“It’s been a disaster and maybe a change of scenery for him is probably inevitable.

“He needs to go and play football, so if we could get a home for him to go and play football, that would probably be good.”

Kozak has not played for Villa since taking on Bristol City at the end of August. With the likes of Ross McCormack, Jonathan Kodjia, Jordan Ayew, Gabby Agbonlahor and Rudy Gestede all ahead of him in the Villa pecking order the Czech striker has better luck of first-team football elsewhere.
