Is a move to Aston Villa, Stoke City or Middlesbrough on the cards for the Leicester City defender?

Aston Villa and two former clubs, Stoke City and Middlesbrough, are among the favourites to sign Robert Huth after his departure from Leicester City.

However, it is Cardiff City who are the early front runners after Sky Bet opened a market on the German’s next club.

Promoted to the Premier League last weekend, Cardiff are 4/1 for Huth’s signature, slightly ahead of Aston Villa, Stoke, Middlesbrough (all 6/1) and West Bromwich Albion (8/1).

Leicester announced on Wednesday that Huth will leave them at the end of his contract this summer, after three-and-a-half-years of service, in which he helped them to an unexpected top flight title.

And while the former Germany international may prefer to continue at the highest level, his age (34 in August) and recent lack of action (he has failed to make a senior appearances all season) could force him down a division.

Stoke, the club he left for Leicester, are certain to play Championship football next term, and will be joined by one of Aston Villa or Middlesbrough – now managed by Huth’s old boss, Tony Pulis – who meet in the play-offs this weekend.

Should Stoke / Aston Villa / Middlesbrough go in for Huth this summer?
