Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and explained the role that he tried to play throughout his side’s terrible run, when he was out injured.
Steve Bruce’s men have managed to turn their miserable season around in recent weeks, recording three consecutive victories, and now sit comfortably in 13th position in the Championship table, albeit a distant 16 points adrift of sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
And the 32-year-old defensive midfielder’s return in recent weeks has undoubtedly played a part in the Villans’ impressive resurgence.
He spoke with AVFC.co.uk about the tough times they have experienced recently, highlighting the responsibility he felt to keep his teammates’ spirits high as results and performances were continuing to disappoint:
“When you come into work and are not able to play, when we went through that run, you see people and it was a little bit down but you kept saying ‘we’re only a win away from turning it around, guys’. Keeping positive and staying on top of that and having the belief and the experience of knowing what it takes to get out of this division and seeing everyone come in with their exuberance and trying to put it right it makes you want to come into work and do well.”

Bruce’s men face an extremely tough challenge away at Huddersfield Town tomorrow night, and will have to be at their very best if they want to keep their winning run, and faint hopes of forcing their way inside the top six come May still alive.
And although that might seem like a distant dream, stranger things have happened in football, and all Aston Villa can do is to keep exerting pressure on those above them by churning out a consistent run of victories.
