The Black Stars striker has struggled for his best form with his nation.
Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew has issued a stinging defence of his own qualities ahead of a African Cup of Nations clash with Egypt.
The Villa attacker has found himself heavily criticised in his homeland for wasting chances for the Black Stars in his recent displays for his country.
But he insists he remains confident over his own qualities, as his nation prepare to battle for top spot in their group with The Pharaohs this evening.
He is quoted by Ghana Web as stating:

“I am always confident because I know the qualities I have. The coach and the players have confidence in me so there is no problem.
“Two of our stars – my brother Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan- were not hundred per cent fit ahead of the game against Mali so I had to run more and I did that with a good heart and good spirit. This is because I wanted to help my country to win.”
It has been a tough season for Ayew so far. He looked like having a good chance of regular football under Roberto Di Matteo, after surprising many by sticking by Villa for the new campaign.

However, he has fallen out of favour under the management of Steve Bruce. His form has dipped and he has recently been linked with a move away from the club, China said to be the potential destination.
Going away with Ghana was supposed to be a good experience for him, but it has been quite the opposite.
He will be hoping to prove some critics wrong this evening.
