The Aston Villa hitman cut a frustrated figure at the Etihad today.

Aston Villa’s Wesley Moraes went into this afternoon’s trip to Manchester City on the back of a morale boost from Pep Guardiola.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference [official site], the City boss singled out the ‘incredibly strong’ Brazilian striker as a potential threat to his Premier League champions at Eastlands today.
The Aston Villa hitman couldn’t pose much problems to Guardiola’s defence today, however.
The towering South American, who signed for the Villans this past summer, was largely anonymous during his 70-minute stint on the field. When he was involved, he struggled to do anything useful with the ball.
Keinan Davis replaced him with 20 minutes left and produced a cameo so promising that it makes you wonder whether Villa boss Dean Smith would have lost 3-0 had he started the young striker instead.
Here’s how Aston Villa fans reacted to Wesley’s display:
Wesley clearly isn’t as poor as some fans have made him out to be.
The former Club Brugge marksman has four goals in 10 Premier League outings, which isn’t a horrendous return.
Yes, there’s a bit to be desired, but there’s also a lot of potential there and Aston Villa fans shouldn’t be so quick to write him off.
