Aston Villa are believed to be interested in signing Joe Hart from Manchester City.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are attempting to sign Joe Hart from Manchester City this summer.

Hart has emerged as a transfer target for Villa, as Steve Bruce searches for a new number one stopper.

And if Villa were able to bring the England international to Villa Park, his arrival would be an even better move for the Midlands club than John Terry’s.

Villa shocked English football when they managed to persuade Terry to make the move to the Midlands, ahead of a host of Premier League sides.

Terry will surely be a brilliant addition for Villa, as they go for promotion.

However, Hart’s arrival at the claret and blues would arguably be even more impressive and important.

Terry, realistically, only has a few more years in his player career – but Hart still has plenty of time remaining.

The City stopper is still only 30-years-old, and he would arrive at Villa with a point to prove.

Hart’s form has been called into question in recent years, but he remains a Premier League winner, an experienced England international and a very experienced stopper.

A move to Villa, and out of the limelight, could be perfect for Hart, as he searches to get back to his best.

And if Villa do manage to complete a deal for Hart, it will have to go down as the best piece of business done by a Championship side this summer.
