Aston Villa could be in the market for a back-up striker, and West Bromwich Albion’s Jay Rodriguez certainly fits the bill.

The signing of Jay Rodriguez from West Bromwich Albion has just become a whole lot more appealing for Aston Villa, following their addition of Wesley Moraes.
Villa caused shock across the Premier League yesterday when they brought in Wesley, and the deal went through rapidly.
Dean Smith’s side’s wrapped up a record breaking transfer just hours after the rumours first broke.
Wesley is widely expected to be the man who leads the line for Villa next season, and there is great excitement about the damage the 22-year-old could do.
Wesley looks to have huge potential, but Villa have taken a risk by putting their faith in him.
The Brazilian has never played Premier League football before and Villa have given a huge amount of responsibility.

Smith’s side would now be making a very smart move if they were to bring in Rodriguez, as he could represent a safe option at a bargain price.
The addition of Rodriguez as a main striker would have been slightly underwhelming for Villa.
However, as a back-up choice, the West Brom man would be a brilliant signing.
Rodriguez is a proven threat at Premier League level, and would take some of the goalscoring burden off Wesley’s shoulders.
For £5 million (Daily Mail), Villa can’t really go wrong with the 29-year-old, and his potential arrival has just become very appealing now.
