Aston Villa showed late interest in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho in the last transfer window.

That is according to Ben Jacobs’ CaughtOffside column.

Jadon Sancho is thought to be a player who Chelsea considered when the market was open, but it appears that Aston Villa also looked at the 23-year-old.

Aston Villa were interested in Jadon Sancho

Jacobs has claimed that Villa had Sancho on their radar late in the window, while Tottenham Hotspur considered him earlier in the summer.

The journalist has also stated that the England international was not a player who Erik ten Hag wanted to sell, so it seems a deal would have been difficult for the Midlands club to do.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea thought about bringing Sancho to Stamford Bridge but decided to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City instead.

While Villa did not add Sancho to their squad in the end, like Chelsea, they were still able to strengthen their attack after recruiting Moussa Diaby and Nicolo Zaniolo.

Jadon Sancho could become available

While Ten Hag may have been reluctant to sell Sancho in the last transfer window, it could be a different story in the next one in a potential boost to Villa.

There seems to be a bit of a problem between the United manager and his player right now after the former Borussia Dortmund star hit back at his boss for claiming that he has not been training well.

“I will not allow people saying things that is (sic) completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week,” Sancho, who cost the Red Devils £73m, posted on Twitter after Ten Hag’s claim.

If things are not smoothed over, then perhaps Villa could make a move for Sancho next year.
