Yaya Sanogo failed to fire at Arsenal, Ajax, Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic – so why would things be any different at Aston Villa?

The immortal words of Dutch legend Ronald De Boer will still be ringing loud in the eyes of Yaya Sanogo, as reported by The Express.
Yet, unfortunately for the young Frenchman he did little to answer his outspoken critic. During a season on loan at Ajax in 2015/16, coached by Ronald’s brother Frank, Sanogo failed to score in six games in all competitions.
These days, Sanogo is 24 years of age and his career appears to be passing him by. He is leaving Arsenal this summer after four years contracted to The Gunners and, despite Arsene Wenger’s faith, the former Auxerre prospect has done little to suggest he can make it at the top level of the senior game.
Lost cause?
A short-term spell at Crystal Palace produced one goal in eleven. And even a stunning hat-trick in Charlton Athletic’s 4-3 defeat to Reading last season proved to be a false dawn.
He didn’t score in any of his seven other appearances for The Addicks.
Needless to say, Aston Villa should avoid revisiting any previous interest this summer – despite The Telegraph claiming that manager Steve Bruce will be forced to operate on a shoestring budget due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
According to the Daily Mirror, Villa were interested in taking Sanogo on loan in January 2015. And the Birmingham Mail claimed they had considered another approach 12 months on.
However, Sanogo has done nothing in his senior career to suggest he could be the man to fire Villa towards the play-off places next season.
A tally of one in 20 for Arsenal tells its own story. Sanogo would surely be more McCormack than Kodjia at Villa Park.
