Yannick Bolasie returned to Everton on Monday and Aston Villa should replace him with Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley.
Aston Villa’s season is slowly dwindling into the darkness as their promotion hopes are slipping away following more dropped points at the weekend.
Dean Smith’s side are now seven points outside of the playoff places and they need to make smart moves in the January transfer window, which would benefit them for this season and the following campaign.
Villa confirmed on their official Twitter account that winger Yannick Bolasie, who was on a season-long loan at the club, returned prematurely to Everton on Monday.
Bolasie’s departure should be seen as a blessing in disguise because Villa now have a Premier League player off their wage bill and they can also sign a player on a permanent basis which will suit them in the long term.
They should look no further than Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley, who is a boyhood Villa fan and a near-perfect player for Smith’s system.
Compared with the likes of Anwar El Ghazi, Albert Adomah and Andre Green, the Forest man complements the off the cuff Villa players.
Added with that, the Redditch-born player offers versatility on the flanks as he has the ability to play either on the right or the left.
Smith urges his team to press from the front and Lolley’s workrate added with his experience would ensure he would do a better job than the likes of El Ghazi and Kodjia are doing at this moment in time.
Over the course of the season, he has played 28 league matches, scoring six goals and providing eight assists to his teammates.
