Aston Villa should sign Brentford striker Neal Maupay in January if Tammy Abraham ends his loan spell at the club.
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith should look to raid his former club and sign striker Neal Maupay if Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham leaves the club in January.
The Telegraph claimed a few days ago that Crystal Palace are monitoring Abraham over a potential move when the transfer window re-opens next month.
Now, Smith has told Sky Sports that he is ‘unsure’ about his players future as his comments will worry the Villa supporters, who are hoping their side can gain promotion to the promised land this season.
During his time at the club, Abraham has netted an impressive 11 goals from 15 matches, including from the penalty spot during his side’s 2-2 draw against Stoke City at the weekend.
The Former Swansea man has played a big part in Villa scoring 43 goals from their 22 matches this season – only third-placed West Brom have netted more.
There is no doubt his potential exit would dent Villa’s hopes of promotion, so Smith should target in-form Brentford forward Maupay, who would fit in perfectly at Villa Park.
The Frenchman, who has scored 13 goals this season and provided six assists, has already worked under Smith this term and understands what the former Bees boss demands of his attacking players.
Whilst Villa, and their fans would prefer Abraham to stay, they still have to prepare for his potential departure because if a Premier League club does come knocking then his exit could be out of their hands.
