Aston Villa are in no need to sign Newcastle United’s Mohamed Diame at this moment in time.

Diame worked with Bruce at Hull City, and enjoyed one of the best spells of his career.
The powerful midfielder was a key player during Hull’s promotion campaign from the Championship back, but a move to Newcastle has seen him lose his way.

Diame has been in abject form this term, and now looks likely to leave Newcastle in the near future.
Villa may be tempted to make a move, given Diame’s desire to link up with Bruce again, but they should hold off.
Villa already have the likes of Conor Hourihane, Josh Onomah, Jack Grealish and Callum O’Hare to provide creativity in their midfield.

And there seems little point in adding Diame to the mix and clogging up Bruce’s midfield options further.
The 30-year-old would have little re-sale value, and with no immediate need for him to come in, Villa would be better off investing their money elsewhere.
