Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham could be leaving Ibrox in January.

Aston Villa continue to be linked with goalkeepers, with new manager Dean Smith looking to bolster a position that remains unsettled at Villa Park.
Villa brought in Orjan Nyland and Andre Moreira after losing Sam Johnstone, but Moreira has quickly become a forgotten man and Nyland hasn’t impressed in the Villa goal.
Smith is now being linked with goalkeepers for the January transfer window, with Burnley’s Tom Heaton one name suggested – but they should return to a summer target too.
Scottish Daily Star (p47, 05/07/2018) reported that Villa were interested in signing Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, before instead moving to bring in Moreira and Nyland.
Now, The Express report that Leeds United now want to bring in Foderingham, and Villa should certainly consider the Englishman as a solution to their goalkeeping situation.

Foderingham can play out from the back, as he did at both Swindon Town and with Rangers under Mark Warburton, and that fits in well with how Smith wants to play at Villa.
The 27-year-old has been a substitute for most of the season, sitting behind Allan McGregor at Rangers, and first-team football at Villa may be appealing rather than sitting on the sidelines at Ibrox.
Foderingham shouldn’t break the bank either, and after Steve Bruce didn’t lure him to Villa Park, Smith should certainly consider his own move when the January transfer window opens.
