Aston Villa would be wise to make a move for Nick Powell with his contract at Wigan Athletic still not sorted.

Aston Vila should re-ignite their interest in Wigan Athletic’s Nick Powell in January, with the attacking midfielder’s future still not sorted.
At that stage Wigan wanted to keep hold of Powell, as they felt he could have a lot to offer them over the rest of the campaign.
However, Wigan still have not been able to tie down Powell to a new deal, and they are now in danger of losing him on a free.
As a result, Villa should make a move to sign the 24-year-old in a cut price deal in January.
Wigan are unlikely to want to lose Powell without receiving any monetary compensation, which puts Villa in the position of power in the negotiations.

And Powell could be a brilliant addition to Dean Smith’s squad, as he would be ideally suited to Villa’s new fluid style.
The former Manchester United man is wonderfully gifted in possession, and has the ability to carve open defences with his passing range.
Powell has four goals and five assists in just 15 Championship appearances this season, and Villa would be an even more dangerous attacking threat with the England youth international in their squad.
