Marvelous Nakamba is better for Aston Villa than the Leeds United star……and cheaper.

The print edition of The Sun reported on Sunday [30/06, page 59] that Aston Villa were readying a £20 million offer for Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.
It isn’t the first time that Aston Villa have been linked to the 23-year-old this summer but it might be the last, with Leeds holding out for £30 million.
Time will tell whether Dean Smith goes that high but, really, he shouldn’t. Instead, he should focus on Marvelous Nakamba.
The Chronicle in Zimbabwe claimed earlier this month that Villa were keen on the 25-year-old Club Brugge powerhouse.
Being a defensive midfielder, like the Leeds star, it makes no sense for the Villans to chase both, but Smith needs to make Nakamba a priority.
Not only is the Zimbabwe international a stronger player, one who Twitter was raving about following his performance against Mo Salah’s Egypt recently, but he is also £10 million cheaper.
This is an absolute tank of a footballer and although Phillips is brilliant, Nakamba, who has Champions League experience and seven international caps, is the more seasoned footballer, having impressed against Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Borussia Dortmund last season.
If Aston Villa have £20 million to spend on a midfield anchor, it has to be him.
