And the claret and blues should consider Manchester United’s James Wilson, if they are searching for a cheap striking options to boost their attacking threat.
Wilson appeared to be on the verge of making a name for himself at Championship level, before injury struck last season.
Since, he has become the forgotten man, but his form over pre-season has been impressive.
United’s coaches have waxed lyrical about Wilson’s performances in training on the club’s official website, but he appears to have little chance of breaking into Jose Mourinho’s first team.
United, therefore, are likely to be more than willing to allow the England youth international to move on loan. And, if the youngster was brought to Villa, he would bring some much needed energy and pace with him to Villa Park.
Wilson could be just the man to help kick start Villa’s season, which has begun in disastrous circumstances, and Bruce should put him right to the top of his wish list, as he begins the search for a new front man.
